Woman Accused of Running Over Husband Acquitted of Murder

Lisa Robbins spend 23 months in the Oklahoma County jail awaiting trial for the death of her husband. Robbins’ attorney, Tony Coleman, says Robbins tried to leave in her car, but her husband wouldn’t let her and jumped on the hood. When she tried to drive off, his head hit the pavement, resulting in his death. According to Coleman, “Ms. Robbins maintained her position from the very beginning that her goal and intent was simply to leave.”
A jury recommended a sentence of one year in prison and a $1,000 fine in the death of her husband. Although prosecutors asked for the judge not to give Robbins credit for time already served, the defense argued that she had already spent nearly two years in jail awaiting her trial, and the judge agreed.
